The BLSA are proud to be hosting the 2023 European Open Blokart Championships in Llanbedr, Wales.
We are looking forward to welcoming all pilots to our amazing costal venue in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter and purchase your Pilot entry, Pilot Dinner or On Site camping you need to register for an account on this web site.

BLSA MEMBERS

Simply login to your existing account and purchase the items you require from the Shop as usual.  If you have forgotten your password you can use the link on the login page to recover your account.

INTERNATIONAL PILOTS

If you already have an account and have registered with the BLSA previously simply login and then visit the shop to purchase the Items you require. If you have forgotten your password you can recover it using the link on the login page.

If you do not have an account then you will need to register for an account first using the following procedure:

  1. Click on the “Membership” item on the main website menu at the top of the page or hover over membership and select “Register”.
  2. Complete the form with your details including Sail Number.
  3. Please select “International Racing” from the “Sailing Interest” options
  4. Submit your registration using the “Register” Button at the bottom.

Your registration now needs to be approved and you will receive an email once this approval has been completed.  Until this happens you will not be able to login and order from the shop.

Once your account has been approved, you can return to the web site and using the “Membership” option select “Login” and login to the web site.  Once you are logged in, you will then be able to see the items in the Shop to enable you to buy your Pilot Entry, Pilot Dinner and On Site camping as required.   The system is just like a normal internet store where you add items to your basket and then check out when you are ready.

Please note: The shop is not open for Euros purchases at this time and we will announce publicly when this is going to happen.

Please note: You cannot purchase pilot entry for multiple pilots from one account.  Each Pilot must have there own account so that we have the pilots details.

LOCATION

Llanbedr Airfield, Llanbedr, Gwynedd. Wales. LL45 2PX

GPS Coordinates: 52°48’18” N 04°07’38” W

Llanbedr is an active airfield.

Should you wish to fly in, please contact a member of the committee, who will be able to help.

SAFETY

Access to the site will require a Foreign Object Debris Inspection for all vehicles. This will be conducted by a member of the BLSA Committee. On arrival to airfield please call (number to be advised) as the perimeter gate is locked at all times. Limited camping for motor-homes, caravans is available in the hangar, on a first come first served basis. There will also be camping available outside the hangar for tents, motorhomes and caravans.

Camping will be available from Wednesday (there is a possibility of early access on Tuesday 3rd ( this is not guaranteed) the site must be cleared by 6pm Sunday.

There will be a small charge per unit per night for camping on site (W,Th,F and Saturday)

Please be aware facilities are limited, there are no facilities for disposal of black waste.

There is one kitchen, one shower and several toilets.

No extra vehicles will be allowed in the hangar apart from vehicles required by disabled pilots.

 All activities conducted on the airfield must adhere to COVID-19 control rules, if enforced.

RULES

Racing will be governed by the IBRA Rules Edition 8 and any additional amendments. A full set of rules can be downloaded from the BLSA website. Changes may be made at the discretion of the Race Committee and entrants will be notified.

ENTRY RULES

Racing is open to all full BLSA members and any non-UK or ROI residents, see the INSURANCE section below. UK and ROI residents must be a member of the BLSA

Registration is via the BLSA website shop https://theblsa.com and payment is by PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account as all major credit and debit cards are accepted).  You must be logged into your own account to register for entry. There is a facility in the shop for non BLSA pilots.

Late entries are accepted at the discretion of the BLSA Committee.

INSURANCE

Each participant must be insured with valid third-party liability insurance for at least £10m. BLSA members are covered. Non- UK/ROI residents will need to sign a declaration of insurance at registration. If you are not insured you will be able to purchase insurance to cover yourself for the duration of the event only. This will cost £10.  As part of the insurance conditions, BLSA members must have their own sail numbers on all the sails they use to participate in the event and carry their membership cards and proof of participate.

ENTRY FEES

To include racing, an event garment, lunch on race days and the “meet and greet” meal.

Pilot Entry Fee £150.00

TRANSPONDERS

Don’t forget to bring your transponder.

Transponders will be required for the event, the majority of pilots have hired these, however there are several who have not. Once again, these will be able to hire at registration if you have forgotten to do so at cost of £10 for the event.

LUNCH

Lunch will be provided on racing days

MEET AND GREET

There will be a meet and greet event at The Victoria Inn, Llanbedr on Wednesday evening.

PILOT’S DINNER

A 3 course Pilot’s dinner will be available on Saturday night and will take place in The Victoria Inn at 7.15pm.  This will be an additional cost to the entry fee.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors race entirely at their own risk. The BLSA will not accept any liability for material loss, theft, damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during or after racing.  The Race Officer reserves the right to remove a competitor from the race if they are considered to be a danger to themselves or others

CLASSIFICATION

Racing will be Production and Performance class with the following weight categories:

Lightweight: Less than 70kg

Middleweight 70.1kg to 82.5kg

Heavyweight 82.6kg to 95kg

Super Heavyweight 95.01kg and over.

Weigh in attire – shirt/t shirt & trousers/shorts with empty pockets, no shoes.

SCORING, RESULTS and PRIZES

1 point for first place.

2 points for second.

3 points for third etc., in the respective class and weight category.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third in both classes for the four weight categories.

SCHEDULE

Wednesday 4th October

Practice, Scrutineering, Registration and weigh in will take place in the hangar/bar area from approximately 14:00hr until 18:00hrs at the latest on Wednesday 4th October.  It’s a lot of work, so we would appreciate your co-operation with this by attending earlier than later.

Officially no sailing on the airfield before Wednesday

Meet and Greet meal at The Victoria Inn Llanbedr 19.15hr and is included in the entry fee for pilots.
If you would like an extra meal then please let us know before the event, the meal cost is £15.00

Thursday 5th October

Briefing in the hangar at  xxxxxx  First possible race xxxx  and last race approximately 18.00hr

Friday 6th October

Saturday 7th October

As for Thursday

Pilot’s dinner at The Victoria Inn 7.30pm

Sunday 8th October

As for Thursday, last possible race 13.00hr (to ensure all divisions have an equal number of races.

PLEASE NOTE :  THERE WILL BE A ROLL CALL PRIOR TO EACH DAYS BRIEFING TO ENSURE ALL PILOTS ATTEND.

Llanbder is a small village close to the Sea in North West Wales.   

Accomodation

On Site Accomodation

On Site Camping is available at the Venue from the Wednesday 4th until Sunday 8th when we need to be clear of the site before 6pm.   We have 20 Motorhome/Campervan pitches in the main event hangar and also availability for motorhomes, campervans and tents outside in a designated camping area next to the hangar.   These items will be available in the BLSA Shop to purchase along with your Pilot entry when the shop opens.  These items will be available on a first come first served basis.  Please Note: There are limited facilities on site.  There is a single shower and 4 toilets.  There is a kitchen area.

Shell Island camping is directly adjacent to the Airfield and is one of the largest camp sites in Europe with over 300 Acres of camping space, it closes for the end of Season on the 4th October 2023 so could be used for a few nights before the Event.
